Why no water? Water is 80%-90% of the formulation for many products. But, water rots and as a result preservatives have to be put in products to maintain the shelf-life. However, preservatives can irritate the skin. A baby’s skin is very delicate and sensitive, so using preservatives can agitate the baby’s skin. With no water and only pure plant-based ingredients, allows for the safest and best results.

Every mum wants to keep her baby safe. As someone who works in skincare, I am aware of ingredient filled products. Unable to find simple and pure products for my little one, I made my own formula inspired by my Indian roots, to now share with all my fellow mommies.

Understanding baby skin 101:

  • Babies have notoriously sensitive skin.
  • This is because their skin is 20% thinner than adult skin.
  • Since their skin is thin, it is easy for it skin to dry out easily or get rashes, eczema, acne and other skin ailments.
  • Also because their skin is thin, it is so sensitive be extremely sensitive. So it is not just what ingredients  that is important but also the number of ingredients.
  • For this reason, it is critical to use products that have minimal ingredients. So if your baby has a reaction, it becomes extremely easy to identify the ingredient and stop using products that contain it.

#skinconfident is not just about respecting our body and inner weird, but also the world we live in.

At Feather & Bone we are committed to respecting the most important natural resource Mother Earth has to offer: WATER

  • NO water in manufacturing. In skincare products water can be up to 80%-90% of the formulation, and through the manufacturing process there is water wastage.
  • Lower carbon emissions. Water is heavy to transport which requires more fuel resulting in increased carbon emissions to get the product to the customer. With ourproduct being waterless, our overall carbon footprint is much lower.
  • Our ingredients are earth-friendly and directly derived from nature. As a result the product residue in wastewater does not harm the environment, aquatic plant and animal life. We were recognized for this by the United Nations.
  • Since there is no water, there is NO additional carbon emissions, water wastage or product residue in wastewater, when the tubes are sent for recycling; the complete opposite for water based products.

My 3 months old baby was having cradle cap.
This balm worked as charm. Used it for 3-4 days continuously…and it was all gone.

    Skin Type: Eczema prone

A simple yet effective product. We have been dealing with facial eczema since day 1 and kept getting mixed advice from doctors.. use an ointment, use only light moisturizers, it’s a heat rash, it’s eczema. I had almost given up and was going to wait till he grew out of it but then we found out about this brand from a friend. We have tried several different and more expensive products but nothing has worked as well as this. The redness was down within a day and and the rash has certainly improved. A little goes a long way too and love that I can also use it as a scalp treatment. Would certainly recommend it.

  3. Susie Williams

    Skin Type: Sensitive

This soothing balm should be in every diaper bag. I use it for my babies diaper rash, dry skin, dry nose from having a cold, and for my hands since I wash them so much. It smells nice and subtle and is not greasy, like most balms. All of our skin is extremely sensitive and this worked for all of us. This is definitely a “must buy” for parents and anyone who has sensitive skin!

When my son had eczema on his right temple, I was freaking out. My friend told me about Soothing balm from Feather and Bone, so i decided to try out. After 2 applications, my son’s eczema was gone the very next day. I was pleasantly surprised.I really recommend.

I woke up one morning and saw some scaly looking thing on my baby’s eyebrows and some flakes in his hair. I started to freak out because what on earth was it??? After much research I realized that it was cradle cap. Immediately, I put the balm on his eyebrows and his hair. I left it there for about fifteen minutes and then I bathed him and washed it off of him. After his bath I put a little bit more on his scalp and his eyebrows and left it there overnight. The next morning I washed it off and then replaced it. I also started using it on his skin (he had some bumps on his arms). The following day the bumps on his arms were gone. Two days after starting the regime on his head and eyeybrows the majority of the cradle cap was gone (you can see no flakes on his scalp unless you are up close and you cant see the scabs on his eyebrows unless you are up close). I would definitely recommend this product to help babies who have cradle cap. I am also going to use this product as a lotion to keep my baby’s skin well moisturized.

This has worked wonders on not only dry skin but blemishes, acne and scratches on my little one’s face. In a day it helps heal any little and clear up acne. Does not cause too much irritation to my baby. I absolutely love this.

    Skin Type: Dry

My baby has always had extreme eczema around his thighs and elbows. We’ve tried so many different products rx steroid creams/balms and nothing really has worked. Recently I purchased the soothing balm for him and like magic his skin started looking so much better! Best part of this product it’s all clean ingredients!

    • Shubhangini Prakash

      so glad!!! 🙂

  8. Pavni Mittal

    Skin Type: Dry

I bought the soothing balm when I was experiencing some eczema-like rashes all over my body. I had tried many lotions and home cures but the itching did not stop. The balm was magical. It just melted into my skin like butter and was so so hydrating. Despite having dry skin, most lotions and moisturisers to leave my skin a tad sticky. But not with this! The purity of the ingredients and simplicity of the formulation shines through. I now use it on a regular basis … a little bit goes a long way (another great part) and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great, clean product for their skin.
